Sounds of Latin America. Beatriz Lockhart in memoriam

Chamber Music Season Program that explores the vast Latin American repertoire, paying special tribute to the great Uruguayan composer and pedagogue Beatriz Lockhart, who has been a fundamental pillar in the musical learning process of several generations of musicians in Uruguay and beyond. The "Capricho Montevideano" and "Tjuarikie" by this composer will be performed. This concert also highlights the Uruguayan premiere of the "Sonata for Clarinet and Piano" by Héctor Tosar: composer, conductor, pianist, improviser, educator and ambassador of Uruguayan music throughout the world. The manuscript of this work was kindly made available to the duo by the Centro Nacional de Documentación Musical Lauro Ayestarán. The duo has been preparing a critical edition of the score of this work, which has not yet been commercially published. The first part of the program, composed exclusively of works by Uruguayan composers, culminates with the work "Silence" by Miguel del Águila, featuring avant-garde tones and certain jazz influences. In the second part of the program, D'Takito JamDuo proposes a journey through our American geography whose vast richness, difficult to synthesize in just a few works, establishes dialogues between dance, song, ritual, lament and celebration. Notable in this regard are the work by Mexican Arturo Márquez, "Zarabandeo," and by Puerto Rican Sonia Morales, "Divertimento Caribeño," of great frenzy and virtuosity typical of the scorched lands of the Caribbean. Two pieces by Heitor Villa–Lobos and Chiquinha Gonzaga pay homage to Brazilian choro and modinha. The duo stands out in its constant timbral exploration and improvisation, playful resources heard in Tango Diablo and Aire Indio n.º 2 by Argentine Astor Piazzolla and Bolivian Eduardo Caba, respectively. The recital culminates with two original pieces by the artists: "Chorando Pero Suave" a ballad-bossa and "La Rondita," a contemporary fusion of Andean celebration. D'Takito JamDuo has been dedicated for several years to listening, learning, compiling, arranging and performing works from the Latin American and world repertoire, with the intention of bringing to life the music of composers from both the academic realm and popular music and neighborhoods. Their arrangements, transcriptions and original compositions include musical genres such as huayño, milonga, tango, Persian music, Armenian music, Kurdish music, and especially those musical languages that transcend national borders. According to the duo's vision, music obeys no imposed boundaries, and it is necessary that audiences enjoy the research work that has made its members grow musically.
